Twitter went mushy with sentimental love on the 15th anniversary of the Nokia 3310; and now, Nokia, the company that brought us the world’s most popular phone brand, has rebounded with the first unofficial pictures of its Android smartphone.
Earlier this year, Nokia CEO, Rajeev Suri announced that Nokia would be going back into the business of producing phones once their non-compete clause with the Microsoft division of Nokia expires in 2016. “Microsoft makes mobile phones. We would simply design them and then make the brand name available to license.” He said.
In the first quarter of this year, Nokia released an android tab, Nokia N1 tablet which was manufactured and distributed by Foxconn. It’s likely that the tablet has set the precedent mark for all Nokia Android devices, and they can only get better than that. Earlier renderings of the device had appeared on the internet but the legitimacy of the rendering were never established. However, real pictures of the device recently surfaced.
If the leaked pictures of the Nokia smartphone are anything to go by, then it’s indicative that the unreleased Nokia C1 would possess a 5-inch HD display, 1080p resolution. Media sources also speculate that it might come with 2 GB of RAM, an 8 MP camera, coupled with a 5 MP front camera and the phone will run on Android Marshmallow, powered by an Intel Atom processor.
The phone doesn’t appear to be a flagship model but if it’s reasonably priced, it might be an instant hit amongst fans and industry observers.
