Control your Android phone from your computer with Vysor

Maybe you’re developing an app. Maybe you’re just too lazy to pick up your phone. Or maybe you just like the idea of controlling your Android device from your computer. Whatever the reason, Vysor’s new Chrome extension is a slick new app that couldn’t be easier to setup.

Simply connect your device and you’re good to go. Well, almost.

Vysor does exactly as it promises, allowing Android users to control their device right from their computer. It’s a bit like Apple’s AirPlay, but in reverse. Rather than controlling what happens through your phone, you can completely control your device through the Vysor app. Play a game, write an email, tweak your settings. And more.

Built by the same developer behind AllCast and ROM Manager, Vysor works with Windows, Mac, Linux and Chrome OS; basically any software that runs Chrome. You don’t need to root to get the app up and running, however, you will need to install Android Debug Bridge (ADB) on your computer, which is what allows Vysor to send commands to your device.

After that’s all set, just enable USB debugging on your Android phone, launch Vysor and it should automatically connect to your device. Once you’ve done that, you’ll see a live feed of your phone’s screen, giving you the freedom to control if from your computer.

Vysor is in beta at the moment, which means the quality and performance isn’t quite up to par just yet. However, it has worked relatively well for us thus far, and promises to get better in the future. Vysor even says that a future update to allow users to remotely access their phone, which could be great if your leave your device at home.

Vysor is free in beta, but the develop said that the app is going to be paid with different tiers and different features. There doesn’t appear to be a killer reason that this exists. but we have to admit it’s pretty cool. Check out the video to see Vysor in action.
