YouTube launches its monetization platform in Tanzania and Zimbabwe

YouTube has announced that its online video monetization platform is now available in Tanzania and Zimbabwe, allowing creators in these countries to earn some money while broadcasting locally relevant content to the world.

According to YouTube, the content would span from “Bongo” movies to the occasional creator sharing about favourite spots in Zanzibar and local lifestyle events, as well as displays of local talent from random street performers, to professionally produced characters like Angry Mwana, music by popular “Zim” artists and lifestyle content professionals and so on.

The launch also adapts YouTube to local taste and shows the most relevant videos, even before searching.

YouTube’s monetization platform has been previously launched in Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Senegal, Uganda and South Africa.
