Microsoft Reveals New Surface Pro 4 Docking Station

Ever since the original Surface tablet hit the scene, Microsoft has been promising that its tablet would be the one to replace your laptop. For a lot of people, that's exactly what the Surface tablet has done — still, there are plenty of other people who want to be able to use their laptop and/or tablet on a bigger screen. Now, thanks to a new Docking station, they'll be able to do just that easier than ever before.

Announced as part of the company's major press event earlier Tuesday, Microsoft announced a new Docking station for its Surface Pro 4 tablet. To be perfectly honest, this new station isn't exactly a revolution – there's nothing here that will blow the average user away – but there's no denying that, for techies, this is one of the more powerful stations of its kind.

Basically, everything that Microsoft included with its Surface Pro 3 station has been upgraded for the Surface Pro 4 version. The new station comes with four different USB 3.0 ports, two 4k DisplayPorts and a 1 TB Ethernet port. On top of all that, the whole is wrapped up in an extremely small package — you can see the whole thing below.

What's even better is that Microsoft isn't forcing people to upgrade in order to use the new Docking station — anyone with a Surface Pro 3 will be able to use the new station without any sort of external peripherals whatsoever.

Microsoft's Surface Pro 4 – and, by extension, its new Docking station – is just a few short weeks from launch. You'll be able to pick up the Surface Pro 4 and a Docking station on October 26.
